Head for the heights

High Peak for a Manchester copper in Nepal!

The Director of Music for the Greater Manchester Police Band, Geoff Williams, is heading for Nepal in July for a 3 week visit to train the Nepalise Police band.

Geoff will be familiar to many brass bands, having conducted many after leaving the army as the former Bandmaster of The Royal Scots in 1994.

I'm really looking forward to meet the band, which is a wind band similar to what we have in the UKGeoff Williams

Interesting venture

The trip will be an interesting venture in an unusual part of the world, and may re-unite some old friendships as some of the members of the Nepalise police band were former members of The Band of The Brigade of Ghurkas, whom Geoff trained whilst at Kneller Hall.

Looking forward

Geoff told 4BR: "I'm really looking forward to meet the band, which is a wind band similar to what we have in the UK, and work to improve on what they have, and also to give them the tools to carry on for the future. We hope to strike up an affiliation for years to come."
