Trio of wins for Kirbymoorside

The Kirbymoorside Band are celebrating a trio of victories.

Kirkbymoorside Town Band has been celebrating their third first prize in a row following their win at Darlington last weekend. In addition the bands bass teamn received the Bob Dales Trophy for 'Best Basses.'

Trio of victories

It's the band's third successive victory in as many contests. In June 2007, the band was awarded first place for deportment in the Easingwold Annual March and Deportment contest and in November 2007 claimed first place in Class A of the annual Malton Brass Contest.

The vast majority of our players have been trained by the band from an early age and worked their way through the Junior Band into the Senior BandJohn Woodward, MD.

Conductor John Woodward told 4BR: "We are particularly proud to have achieved this recent win as unlike many of the bands we compete against, we are not sponsored. The vast majority of our players have been trained by the band from an early age and worked their way through the Junior Band into the Senior Band."

The band relies on the continued support of the town and wider community. "We are very grateful for the support the town gives us as without it we would not have the resources to train our learners," said John. "They really are the life blood of the band."
