The British Trombone Society is gearing itself up for a spectacular day of music making at Leicester Grammar School in Leicester, on Saturday 3rd May.
The two themes of the day are a celebration of of the lyrical trombone playing of the late Don Lusher, and the trombone in the brass band.
Star names
Some of the star names that will be on hand to enjoy the day will be Nick Hudson, Chris Jeans, Bob Hughes and Brett Baker and the hard working Ratby Co-operative Band will be providing a great deal of back up.
Registration starts at 9.30am before a full day starys with a massed trombone choir led by Bob Hughes followed by the Black Dyke trombone quartet on section playing and quartets.
Nick Hudson will be leading his own workshop, whilst Chris Jeans and Brett Baker will work through brass band repertoire and explore new compositions.

Don Lusher Solo Competition
The Don Lusher solo competition takes place in the afternoon with three finalists before Bob and Chris lead trombone choirs prior to the climax — a concert with Ratby Band featuring the Don Lusher competition winner as well as many of the featured tutors as soloists.
The main prize for the competition winner is a new top of the range trombone, kindly donated by Yamaha UK Ltd and the prize will be awarded by Don’s widow, Diana Lusher.
Information
Admission to the workshops and daytime events is free to BTS members and £10 to non-members.
Tickets for the evening concert and competition final will be by ticket, available on the door at £5 for all.
