The first hour-long programme in a new 10-part Radio 3 series entitled, 'Brass Banding with Hannah Peel' will be aired this weekend (Sunday 27th April — 8.00pm).
According to the series promotion, it will see the Novello Award winning composer, producer and broadcaster explore the world of brass bands and its music from the most loved pieces to the newest compositions.
From it, Hannah, who studied violin, trombone and piano at Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts and directed 'King Cotton' with its brass band score, draws a map of banding, exploring lesser-known locations where the medium is thriving.

A regular feature of 'Bandroom Recommendations' sees her first guest Katrina Marzella-Wheeler look at works from the pens of Kelly-Marie Murphy and Philip Sparke.
There are also compositions from Arthur Bliss, Edward Gregson (featuring tenor horn soloist Tim De Maeseneer) and Liz Lane, as well as a solo from Peter Moore.
