Verwood

Verwood Concert Brass are celebrating once more after claimeing their third regional title in four years, as they took top honours in the Third Section at the recent West of England Regional Championships.

Lucky 13

The band had spent the night before the contest in Torquay trying to rid themselves of any pre-contest nerves, which weren't helped by drawing 13th out of the 14 competing bands.

I'm thrilled to bits, all the hard work we put in has paid offMD David Johnson

Favour

The draw number may have been unlucky for some but the performance of the test-piece 'The Dark Side of the Moon' certainly found favour with the adjudicators Peter Roberts and Rob Wiffin and they awarded the band first prize.

Thrilled to bits

The band’s Musical Director is David Johnson who is currently the Euphonium and Cello instructor at the Royal Marines School of Music in Portsmouth. David was delighted with the result and told 4BR: "I'm thrilled to bits, all the hard work we put in has paid off.”
