After their super win in the Fourth Section at Bradford on the weekend, Lofthouse 2000 are hoping that even more success will come their way when they make their acting debuts in a prestigious theatre competition on the Isle of Man in a couple of months time.
Delight
Percussionist David Richards told 4BR: "We are all delighted to have won on the weekend, especially as the band has gone through a bit of a rough patch before Christmas. Many people thought the band was on its last legs but everyone has rallied around and we have invested in our talented young players who really shone on the weekend."
We have teamed up with them to perform ‘Brassed Off’ and we think it could be a first that a band and theatre company has got together to perform in a competition of this natureLofthouse 2000
Youngsters
The band had lost a number of players at the tail end of 2007 but that youthful investment has now paid an amazing early dividend. "We gave the youngsters a shot and they have been brilliant, with players who just a few months ago were playing back row parts now playing on the top end. It’s been great to see."
Am-dram
With the win under their belt the band will now head off to the Isle of Man to see if they can help the Wakefield Little Theatre Company win a prestigious amateur dramatics contest.
"We have teamed up with them to perform ‘Brassed Off’ and we think it could be a first that a band and theatre company has got together to perform in a competition of this nature. We will be holding three nights of performances in Wakefield to help pay for the trip and then we are off to tread the boards and hopefully help them to victory too."
