Pleasley return

After a decade away from the regional contest, Pleasley Colliery Welfare make their return at the Midlands on the weekend.

 

Pleasley Colliery Welfare will be participating in the Midlands Regional Area Brass Band Championships on Sunday, the first time in 10 years since the band has entered a competition.

We have had a few setbacks leading up to it but we have overcome these and are raring to go and let everyone know Pleasley Band is backSecretary, Helen Cutting

Down to 8 players

Only 18 months ago the band were down to 8 players but under the direction of David Cutting and the commitment and enthusiasm of the players, they have resurrected itself to competition standard and are looking forward to taking centre stage.

Despite having a number of setbacks leading up to the competition the band also welcome a number of new players, some of whom will be competing in a contest for the first time..

Raring to go

Band Secretary Helen Cutting told 4BR: "The band playing really well and we are all very excited about playing at this competition. We have had a few setbacks leading up to it but we have overcome these and are raring to go and let everyone know Pleasley Band is back. In addition the band will be celebrating its 125th anniversary this year, so its an exciting time for the band all round."

Hathersage Band
