Dyke hit top 20

Black Dyke’s latest CD release ‘Symphonic Brass’ has made it into the top 20 best sellers list released by Naxos recordings for February.

Black Dyke

The Naxos list features all publications and is topped by the massive selling Handel’s ‘Messiah’ followed by Holst’s ‘The Planets’ and Prokofiev’s ‘Peter and the Wolf’.

‘Symphonic Brass’ comes in at number 14, a remarkable achievement given that it is the major labels first venture into brass band repertoire.

Exciting direction

Black Dyke MD Dr Nicholas Childs told 4BR: “We are delighted with the success of ‘Symphonic Brass’. I believe that it shows that there is an extensive appetitie for high quality brass music and we hope that this could see the band further develop its profile in an exciting direction.”
