Ellerby set for Masters exam

Martin Ellerby has been commissioned to write the set work for the 2008 All England Masters.

Richard Franklin and Philip Biggs have announced that plans are well in place for the 2008 All England Masters International Brass Band Championship which takes place at the Corn Exchange, Cambridge on Sunday 25th May.

Malcolm Arnold Variations

Philip and Richard are well aware that the 2008 championship will be the twentieth since it was inaugurated in 1989 and to mark this special occasion have commissioned Martin Ellerby to provide a set work entitled 'Malcolm Arnold Variations' to commemorate the great British composer and former trumpet player with the London Philharmonic Orchestra.

Impressive list

Malcolm Arnold Variations follows an impressive list of past commissions from Philip and Richard since 1989 which include 'Cambridge Variations' — Philip Sparke, 'Montage' — Peter Graham, 'Hymn at Sunrise' — Ray Steadman Allen, 'Jazz' — Philip Wilby, 'Tristan Encounters' — Martin Ellerby and 'Chivalry' also by Martin Ellerby.
