It's a hard old life...

A quartet of top players recently had to endure the Cayman Island sunshine to play... Bless 'em

Tubas

Four of Britain's top brass performers recently escaped the cold and wet winter for a week of sunshine, palm trees and golden sands.

Stella

Martin Armstrong and Jim Fletcher on horn, Steve Sykes on EEb tuba and Dean Morley on BBb tuba, all recently travelled to Grand Cayman to perform with USA's stellar Brass Band of Battle Creek.

Dean who as just emigrated to Australia also had to wait a couple of days for his tuba to arrive after the airline had lost it in Miami.

Workshops

Whilst visiting, the band took part in educational workshops and performed two concerts at the First Baptist church with there main appearance being at the Heroes Day ceremony in the islands capital George Town.

Soloists on tour were Chris Jaudes, Rich Kelley, Rex Richardson and Jens Lindemann on trumpets, John Daniel on flugel h and Wycliffe Gordon on Trombone,

Pictured are the bands tuba section of Steve Sykes, Dean Morley, Marty Erickson and Charles Villarrubia.
