Blackburn and Darwen has revealed what they hope is the final piece in their jigsaw in their bid for a 2008 First Section National Finals place, with the signing of Kevin Stringfellow on Eb Bass.

Versatile player

Band Chairman Tariq Ahmed told 4BR: "We’ve had our eye on Kevin for a long time. He is a great bandsman and an incredibly versatile player. In fact he played soprano cornet for Nelson at Brass at the Guild – not bad for a tuba player!"

Full compliment

The band has now achieved a full playing complement with seven players signing since November.

An encouraging 5th place at the Brass at the Guild contest in Preston on 3rd February saw them placed above several local Championship Section rivals. The band are also busy preparing for a trip to Holland in the summer.
