Booth steps down

After many years as Chairman of Slaithwaite Band, Andrew Booth has stepped down.

After serving seven successful years as Chairman of the Huddersfield based Slaithwaite Band, trombonist Andrew Booth has relinquished his administrational responsibilities for the band.

Andrew told 4BR: "It has been a difficult decision to make after being involved so much for such a long time, but pressures of work have made it impossible for me to give Slaithwaite Band the service and attention it needs as it continues to move ahead."

The Band Committee reluctantly accepted his resignation at its AGM.

His commitment has been exemplary and I will miss his counsel on the domestic issues that surround an organisation like ours. I am pleased that Andrew will continue as a playing member of the band and in his capacity as Deputy ConductorMD Barry Hudson

Contribution

MD Barry Hudson told 4BR: "Andrew has made a phenomenal contribution to the band’s development during his tenure in the role. His commitment has been exemplary and I will miss his counsel on the domestic issues that surround an organisation like ours. I am pleased that Andrew will continue as a playing member of the band and in his capacity as Deputy Conductor."

The Slaithwaite Band looks forward to announcing the appointment of a new Chairman in the very near future as it approaches the run-up for the Yorkshire Area championships.
