OBAF composition deadline looms

Entries for the OBAF composition contest are due at midnight (EST) on January 31st, and Mark Bousie and Mark Ridenour will be in Columbus to find out the winner.

The deadline for the Ohio Brass Arts Festival (OBAF) composition contest (sponsored by Jagrins Music and hosted by the Central Ohio Brass Band) is January 31st, 2008. Because OBAF is based on EST (U.S. Eastern Time), UK entries get an additional 5-hours to finish there pieces.

There have already been a good turnout of entries and the three finalists will soon be selected and read through on Friday, March 7th by the OBAF Repetoire Band. Anybody coming to the festival is welcome to bring their insturment (brass & percussion that is ), and read through the finalists as well as new brass band music supplied by Curnow music, Pennine Music and Elms Music (through Moyston).

Conductors for the Repeptoire Band will include Mark Bousie (Seller Youth Band), Anita Cocker-Hunt (former NABBA presidents and Cincinnati Brass Band), Paul Droste (TBDBITL Active Band and Central Ohio Brass Band) and Tony Zilincik (Capital University).

Furthermore, OBAF is happy to announce that euphonium player, Mark Bousie and Mark Ridenour (assistant principal trumpet for the Chicago Symphony) will be presenting clinics over the weekend.

The Central Ohio Brass Band would also like to thank Colonial Music (of Music and Arts Center), The Ohio State Univeristy School of Music, and TOR Designs for their support of the Ohio Brass Arts Festival.
