Morley March & Hymn Tune Contest

Details released of this year's contest which organisers hope will build on success of inaugural event.

 

Ater the success of the innaugural contest last year, organisers have informed 4BR that they will be holding a second March & Hymn Tune contest in Morley.

The competition will take place on Sunday 13th July commencing at 1.00 p.m.* This time will be confirmed a little nearer the date depending on the number of entrants.

In the first year organisers had 15 entries and they would like to see this increase to 25 for their second year4BR

Format

The format of the contest is the same as last year and is based on similar events which are held at Brighouse & Old Silkstone.

Each band will perform a short march along the pedestrianised Queen Street towards the town hall, followed by a contest march and hymn tune to be played in the band arena outside the Town Hall.

All proceeds from this event are for Lions Charities.

Entrants

The contest is supported by Morley Lions and the Morley Entertainments Committee and other sponsors and is open to all
bands from Championship down to Youth.

Information

There is a prize fund in excess of £1500 which includes a first prize of £500.
