Strata Brass recently held their annual presentation night where MD David Hirst presented the award for most improved player to cornet player Samantha Pearson.

Most progress

David told 4BR: "The band has several promising young players in the ranks but Samantha has made the most progress during 2007."

The Bandperson of the Year award was presented to Paul Wilkinson for his work as Secretary as well as soprano cornet.

Strong and efficient

David commented: "All bands need a strong, efficient management team, and Paul has along with the committee worked very hard behind the scenes to ensure another successful year. In addition to this he has occupied one of the most pressured positions in the band too."
