Awards at Crewe

There were plenty of awards dished out at United Co-op Crewe's annual dinner recently.

Crewe

Last Saturday saw the members of the United Co-op Band (Crewe) hold their annual band dinnerr and awards evening.

This years event was organised by solo trombone player Clare Dixon and a great night was had by all.

The first award was presented by the bands Musical Director Jef Sparkes to the bands 'Most Improved' and 'Most Outstanding Player of the Year'.

Jef commented that this individual could easily be the receiver of this award for many years to come given his natural ability and fantastic work rateUnited Co-op Band

Years to come

Jef commented that this individual could easily be the receiver of this award for many years to come given his natural ability and fantastic work rate. The winner was 15 year old Nicholas Birch who has recently taken over the solo euphonium seat.

Bandsman of the Year

The Bandsman of the Year which was given to an individual voted for by the band members themselves went to MD Jef Sparkes. Jef commented that it normally falls to him to present the award and not receive it but he was very honoured to get this support from the band members.

The band are now looking forward to their championship section appearance at Blackpool this year — and hopefully some more silverware.
