The latest episode of the BBC Radio 3 brass band programme will feature Richard Blackford's 'Orbital', as well as John McCabe's 'Cloudcatcher Fells'.
No Strings Attached
This week's episode (Sunday 8th November at 9.00pm) entitled, 'No Strings Attached' features an interview with 21 year old Nina Martin who was one of the three winners of the 2025 National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain Composer Competition.
Her work, 'Betws-y-Coed' was inspired by her first solo backpacking trip to the area of north Wales. Whilst exploring, she wrote musical ideas based on the bubbling of a river, the contours of the surrounding hills and the feeling of joy when immersed in the natural habitat.
Also featured is music inspired by nature below our feet with John McCabe's 'Cloudcatcher Fells' as well as from miles above the planet with Richard Blackford's 'Orbital'.
