Composer commissions in Cumbria

There are a trio of £750 composer commissions to be grabbed as part of the Drum & Bass organisation's Participations to Pathways initiative.

The Drum & Bass organisation based in Cumbria is looking for creative people to write three original works for the brass band medium as part of its Participations to Pathways initiative.

A trio of £750 commissions are available for composers to create music to inspire beginner players and support their progression without ever feeling patronising to their ability.

Flexible

Each piece should be a flexible arrangement suitable for training bands with an ethos that gives every section a chance to play the main melodic tune. There should also be some additional challenges for developing players.

Inspiration should be drawn from Cumbria's places, people, stories or landscape with the winning entries published in time for Cumbria's Big Brass Weekend, 25th-26th June 2027.
