The Elgar International Brass Band Summer School has announced a special one-day Conducting Masterclass to be held at Bromsgrove School on Saturday 24th July.
It will be hosted by Cory MD, Philip Harper, who is also the Artistic Director of the EIBBSS and in 2027, of the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain.
All levels
The masterclass will offer conductors of all levels an opportunity to spend an intensive day exploring the skills that sit behind effective musical leadership — from baton and conducting technique to score preparation and interpretation, rehearsal technique to effective communication.
A spokesperson told 4BR: "The day is aimed at being valuable both to those already conducting bands and to musicians who are interested in developing their conducting skills for the first time.
Philip has a passion for developing the next generation of musical leaders, so if you are an established conductor looking to refine your skills, a player beginning to explore conducting or simply keen to understand more about what happens on the other side of the music stand, this promises to be a fascinating and rewarding day."
