The future of the Navigation Inn public house in Dobcross, which for many years gained fame as a Saddleworth Whit Friday meeting place, has been secured after new tenants were confirmed as taking over the pub business.

In confirming the news, the new management of Justine and Philip Smith told the local Saddleworth Independent newspaper website: "This isn't just a new business for us. It's a new home, a new adventure and a completely new chapter in our lives."

They added: "We know The Navigation means a great deal to the people of Dobcross and the surrounding villages, and we genuinely feel privileged to be taking on such a well-loved local."
