Tredegar Band has announced the appointment of Dr Matthew Hall as its new Composer in Residence.
It renews a musical partnership that over the years has seen the Shropshire based musician provide the Welsh band with a number of outstanding concert works — including two Brass in Concert 'Best Composition' award winning works, in 'Legends of Cyfarthfa' and 'Nightingale Dances'.
With a busy concert and recording schedule planned Matthew has already started work on a new project that will be premiered in 2027.
Standard set
Speaking about the reconnection, MD, Ian Porthouse told 4BR: "It's great to have Matt back with us in a role that he really set the standard with the first time around.
We have already started work on an ambitious project for next year whilst his remarkable skill set is going to be put to good use in many other musical areas too."
Great to be back
In response Matthew said: "I'm really looking forward to working with Tredegar and Ian again.
When the idea was first discussed, I wasted no time in saying yes to the opportunity of working with such a leading, progressive and forward-thinking band. I've already been writing for a big project together in 2027 alongside a number of other ventures which I'm really excited about.
It's always great to get back to the bandroom and hear my music being brought to life by such a great band."
