Bingham to take baton for first National Children's Band of Northern Ireland

Jacklin Bingham will lead the first ever National Children's Band of Northern Ireland — with applications now open to become a founder member.

Following the success of the inaugural course of the National Youth Brass Band of Northern Ireland, it has been announced that a National Children's Brass Band of Northern Ireland (NCBBNI) will be launched in 2027.

The Musical Director will be Jacklin Bingham, a much-respected banding musician with more than 30 years of experience in teaching and youth development.

Applications are now open for players aged 10-14, at approximately Grade 3 standard or above to be part of the band. The band will have an inclusive ethos and will welcome trumpets and orchestral brass and percussion, offering youngsters the chance to develop their skills and make new friends in a wider musical environment.

There is no formal entry audition in this first year, with rehearsals taking place on 13th March, 10th April and 24th April 2027, finishing with a shared finale concert with the National Youth Brass Band of Northern Ireland.
