The West of England Bandsmen's Festival has announced the appointment of Philip Harper as adjudicator for its 101st Bandsmen's Festival, at Molinnis Park, Bugle, on Saturday 19th June.

The appointment of the Cory MD adds to the attraction of an event which in 2027 will see the famous Royal Trophy presented alongside the Walter Hicks Trophy for the 100th time.

Festival Chairman Rob Faro said: "We're delighted that Philip has agreed to adjudicate. As one of the most respected and influential figures in brass banding today, his exceptional experience as a conductor, performer, composer and adjudicator makes him an ideal choice for this landmark occasion."

In response Philip added: "This famous contest is one of the most cherished events in the brass band calendar, combining a rich tradition with a fantastic atmosphere and community spirit.

I'm honoured to have been invited to adjudicate for the second time and I'm looking forward to hearing the performances."

Competitors in the Championship Section will perform Edward Gregson's 'Of Distant Memories' alongside William Rimmer's march 'Royal Trophy'.
