There is now the opportunity to sit back and enjoy the Summer Course Concert of the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain from Friday 18th September (7.30pm) on YouTube.
More than 90 outstanding young brass and percussion musicians took centre stage at The Forum in Bath in August under the direction of Lt Col Lauren Petritz-Watts alongside guest soloist, tuba virtuoso, Ross Knight.
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
The 'Reduce, Reuse, Recycle' programme featured two world premieres in Simon Dobson's 'MACHINE!' and Martyn Brabbins' 'In Memoriam: E.H.'
The ethos of musical reinvention also saw Johan de Meij's major test-piece work 'Extreme Makeover' alongside Jacob Larsen's 'Ad Astra', Liz Lane's 'Serenata' and Ashley Marston's 'Echoes of Youth'.
Ross Knight was on sparkling form with the Vaughan Williams' 'Tuba Concerto', Peter Graham's virtuosic 'Quicksilver' and the remarkable 'Fnugg' by Oystein Baadsvik.
NYBBGB Young Conductors' Competition winner Tommy Tynan was featured conducting 'Serenata' and 'Echoes of Youth'. The concert drew to a reflective close with Philip Wilby's 'The Day Thou Gavest'.
