The National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain has rounded off its Summer programme with a visit to London to give an open-air concert at St Martin-in-the-Fields in Trafalgar Square.

The 40 Ambassador representatives were directed by Dr Robert Childs at the Lost Oasis venue at the side of the famous church.

A packed crowd of tourists and visitors enjoyed a varied programme of music in the sun, with the NYBBGB Artistic Director taking the opportunity to explain to them about the organisation and its ethos, as well as introducing the music and the young performers.

Long term link

The visit also continued the NYBBGB's long term relationship with St Martin-in-the-Fields and formed part of its extensive summer programme of activity.

Reflecting on the visit, a spokesperson told 4BR: "Our young musicians presented a super programme of music much appreciated by an audience who were keen to meet the band afterwards and find out more.

Making a mark

They added: "The concert provided the ideal opportunity to reach out and make a mark right in the heart of a city with huge cultural diversity.

The response was so uplifting, and our thanks go our brilliant young players for representing the NYBBGB so well and to the team at St Martin-in-the-Fields and the Lost Oasis team for their support in delivering the event."
