Spennymoor Town Band has announced the appointment of Andy Hunter as its new Musical Director.

Andy comes to the North of England Third Section band with extensive experience, having been part of the British Army Band Catterick as a player and conductor, and in leading Cockerton Prize Silver to success in recent years — including North of England Area titles in 2020 and 2025 as they rose from the Second to Championship Section.

Andy takes over from Fiona Casewell who also enjoyed success in leading Spennymoor to the North of England Area and the Bolsover Entertainment Contest titles, as well as to the National Final on three occasions.

The band stated: "We make a warm welcome to Andy and wish Fiona all the best with her future endeavours and thank her so much for all her hard work."
