The Amersham Band has announced the appointment of Nick Mott as its new principal cornet. He will take over from Giovanni Re who has decided to step down to focus on the growing demands of his trumpet career.
With his playing roots in the Salvation Army, Nick played with GUS Band and developed his playing working with Richard Marshall and Ian Porthouse before joining the Band of the Coldstream Guards in 2010.
Graduating from the Royal College of Music in 2021 he enjoyed playing with many of the UKs leading orchestras, as well as becoming Principal Trumpet of His Majesty's Coldstream Guards Band and leading the trumpet section of the Household Division Orchestra.
Excited
On joining Amersham, he said: "I've really missed banding and the musical challenges it presents. I'm hugely excited to work with this amazing band and organisation. My daughter, Maisie also attends 'Brass Blast' at Amersham and loves it.
There is a special atmosphere about the place and I feel I'm joining a band that is very much on the up!"
Wonderful signing
In welcoming him to the role Amersham MD, Paul Fisher added: "This is a wonderful signing for us. Nick is an outstanding musician who has immediately fitted in and brought his experience to bear.
Gio is still very much a part of the band and is still playing with us and working with us on the education side. His performances have been a huge part of our success in recent years and I would like to personally put on record my sincere thanks for his musicianship, passion and friendship."
