There were successful early Area runouts for Skelmanthorpe, South Yorkshire Police, Leicestershire Coop, Dronfield and Matlock.

Skelmanthorpe
  The bands took the opportunity to give their regional test-pieces and early runout

There was a fine weekend of bust pre-Area contesting at South Normanton as bands took the opportunity to test their preparations on the various Regional Championship set-works.

There were victories for Skelmanthorpe, South Yorkshire Police, Leicestershire Coop, Dronfield and Matlock.
