The recent RNCM International Brass Band Festival concert given by Welsh champion Tredegar is now available to enjoy on the Wobplay.com media platform.
Van Looy
Directed by Ian Porthouse they performed on the Saturday morning with a programme that included a stunning performance by Belgian star Glenn Van Looy of the fearsome Derek Bourgeois 'Euphonium Concerto'.
The band had earlier opened with 'A Spark Forgotten' written by 18 year student Tamsin Crook, whilst they also provided one of the most intriguing major world premieres of the weekend with Phil Lawrence's 'Melisande' — a reflection on a day in the life of the late composer's much loved dog.
Sparke classic
Tredegar's programme was completed with their contribution to the 75th birthday celebrations of composer Philip Sparke with one of his classic early works, 'The Land of the Long White Cloud'.
