Danish flavour
Directed by Stig Maersk they performed on the Saturday morning with a programme that brought a distinctive Danish flavour to the heart of Manchester.
It saw then open with the sparkling 'DAO Fanfare' by Jacob Vilhelm Larsen, followed by one of highlights of weekend, with 'Doing' by Per Norgaard, a brilliant deconstruction of an old 1964 Beatles pop hit, written in 1968.
Professional MD Jesper Juul Windahl was the featured soloist in the Launy Grøndahl, 'Trombone Concerto', with contrast offered the battle scenes of 'Hope' by Frederik Magle and test-piece of 'Ravenscroft Variations' by Jacob Vilhelm Larsen.
Impressive
They closed their impressive programme with 'Dance of the Cockerels' by Carl Nielsen.
