Early Music
The festival will take place between the 22nd and 24th May

The 38th Beverley & East Riding Early Music Festival returns in May attracting local and visitors alike to hear celebrated musicians, enjoy talks by experts and participate in workshops.

This year's theme over the weekend of the 22nd — 24th May is 'Miracles & Mysteries', intertwining the story of St John of Beverley, regarded as a miracle-worker in England in medieval times, with music by the world-renowned Tallis Scholars, and a host of musicians from across the UK and Europe.

Attractions

The festival opens with the critically acclaimed Près de votre oreille, as well as The Tallis Scholars. The Telling present 'Purcell: The Musical' with a drama based on the life of the famous English composer featuring assorted instrumental and vocal compositions, from bawdy theatre ballads and joyful celebrations of love to slow airs and numbers from his semi-operas.

The festival also hosts emerging young talent, with three NCEM Platform Artists: Pseudonym; Intesa; and Rune, plus Bellot Ensemble, the current New Generation Baroque Ensemble Pseudonym: Discret et distrait
