The death has been announced of Andrew Hirst

The death has been announced of Andrew Hirst. The young father passed away on 3rd February. He had previously received treatment for glioblastoma, a terminal brain cancer.

A major charity concert was recently given by the Carlton Main Frickley Colliery Band organised by family friends Roger Webster and Billy Rushworth.

Sad time

The band stated: "Carlton Main is sending their love and best wishes to our former member David Hirst, Andrew's father, and his family at this sad time.

Last month the band was privileged to host a fundraising concert in Wakefield Cathedral with guest soloists Roger Webster, William Rushworth and Harry Porthouse, to support the treatment for Andrew's illness, and the band was proud to raise over £2000, which we know will still go towards a great cause."

Cherished

They added: "Andrew died peacefully in his sleep, with his wife Rachael by his side. He will be forever cherished and missed by all his family and friends and we know so many people will join us in holding his family, especially Rachael and their children Freddie, Juliana and Maximilian in their thoughts."
