Adjudicators host AGM with test-piece examinations

The Association of Brass Band Adjudicators recently held its Annual General Meeting with training and examination of professional development and test-pieces on the agenda.

The Association of Brass Band Adjudicators (AoBBA) recently held its hybrid 2026 Annual General Meeting where members were able to address the formal and informal agenda issues and topics of discussion.

Professional development



A minute's silence was observed before the start of the day to mark the memory of members who passed away during the past year, whilst those present were also able take part in a session of continued professional development on forms of assessment for exams and competitions, led by Dr. Andrew McBirnie, Chief Examiner for London College of Music.

Newstead Brass also delivered a test-piece workshop led by Dr. Howard Evans, Christopher Holding and Stan Lippeatt to enable members to examine and discuss the Area Championship set-works for the Second, Third and Fourth Sections.

North Somerset Community Brass

March 13 • Cornet and bass players required. We are a fun and relaxed non contesting band and are looking to swell our numbers. Players of any instrument will be very warmly welcomed, but we would really love some more cornets and basses (instruments available).
