Cory will head to the RNCM International Brass Band Festival this weekend looking forward to the start of what promises to be an exciting season of concerts and contest appearances.
However, the band looked back on 2025 at their recent annual awards evening held in Cardiff where they took the opportunity to recognise and celebrate the dedication, talent, and contributions of its members.
Vital support
A spokesperson told 4BR: "The event also highlighted the vital support of backroom staff and players' families, whose efforts behind the scenes help the band perform at the highest level."
The awards saw the 'Player of the Year' accolade go to Sheona White — voted by her fellow players in what was her "exceptional talent, musical leadership, and unwavering commitment throughout the year."
The players also voted for David Mitchell as their 'Band Member of the Year' for his "dedication, drive, determination, and the crucial role played in organising the band's concerts and engagements."
The 'Musical Director's Award' chosen by Philip Harper went to Matthew Roche. The new award was introduced for the first time this year and was presented by the MD in recognition of his "outstanding musicianship, combined with invaluable administrative and musical support."

Speaking about the awards, Cory Band Manager, Neil Blockley told 4BR: "It's always inspiring to see the range of talent and dedication in the band.
Nights like this remind us how much teamwork, passion, and commitment go into every rehearsal and performance.

RNCM Festival
Cory will now head to Manchester for their RNCM appearance on Sunday 25th January where they will give the world premiere of Richard Blackford's 'Orbital', as well as Mark Boden's 'Descent'.
Also featured on the programme under MD Philip Sparke will be Philip Sparke's 'Raveling, Unraveling' as well as Brett Baker performing Philip Wilby's trombone solo, 'Light Fantastic'.
