The Scottish champion Whitburn recently enjoyed its annual awards presentation evening where individual and section accolades were made.
Senior
Solo horn Andrew McMillan was 'Player of the Year', while long serving soprano Scott Forrest was named 'Players' Player'. Veteran horn player Iain Fleming was celebrated as 'Bandsperson of the Year.'
The award recognised the outstanding contributions made to the ongoing success of the band on and off the contest stage, with Andrew in particular gaining critical acclaim for his performances as the musical voice of 'Keli', the landmark National Theatre of Scotland production during its Scottish tour.
Long Service awards were also presented to solo trombone, Paul Kiernan and Bb tuba player Neill Gourlay who have completed 10 and 20 years of service respectively.
Next generation
The next generation of young players were also recognised.
The Whitburn Youth Band 'Player of the Year' was Eilidh Stephenson, with the 'Bandsperson' accolade going to Ruby Morrison and 'Most Improved Player' to William Luke.
The Whitburn Heartlands Band 'Players' Player of the Year' was Eilidh Stephenson, whilst Ruby Morrison was the 'Bandsperson of the Year'.
The awards night concluded with a presentation to Charlie and Caroline Farren for the continued excellent work with the whole organisation, from Whitburn Band to Whitburn Wee Band and Whitburn Youth Band.
