Brass in Concert champion, the cooperation band has announced the departure of principal cornet Jim Hayes.

They stated that it brought to a close, "...an outstanding chapter that spans more than two decades of exceptional musicianship and dedication."

The band added: "Over the past twenty years, his commitment, professionalism, and musical leadership have played a significant role in shaping the band's sound and success both on the contest stage and in concert performance."

Best Cornet

Awarded the prestigious Terris Medal as 'Best Cornet' at the Scottish Championship on seven occasions since 2002, he was also named 'Best Soloist' at the All England Masters Championship, as well as gaining wider acclaim for his solo CD recordings.

"For many of us, it's hard to imagine the band without Jim," said his cornet colleague Ewan Millar.

"He has been a familiar face, a steady influence, and a good friend for over two decades. Jim has given so much of himself to the band, often quietly and without fuss, and that commitment has meant a great deal to us all. While we will miss him greatly, we're grateful for everything he's shared with us and wish him nothing but happiness and success in whatever comes next."

Legacy

In placing on record its thanks for what it said would be a legacy marked by, "his outstanding contribution, loyalty, and service over the past two decades", the band also offered the player every success with his future musical endeavours.
