Lanner & District Silver Band has launched 'The Brass Society Sessions', a new concert series celebrating the richness, energy and community spirit of brass band music in Cornwall.
The inaugural event will take place on Sunday 25th January at 2.30pm at the Lanner Band Centre, where Lanner & District Silver Band will be joined by special guests St Newlyn East Band, bringing together two respected local ensembles.
New venture
A spokesperson told 4BR: "This new venture has been created to provide relaxed, accessible concerts that showcase brass music in a welcoming social setting. They are designed to appeal to seasoned brass band enthusiasts and newcomers alike, with the aim to strengthen connections between local bands, audiences and communities."
Each event will run on a return-concert basis, touring communities across Cornwall and ensuring that every participating band has the opportunity to both host and be hosted.
Growing audiences
Lanner Musical Director, Stuart Chappell, added: "The Brass Society Sessions are about bands working together — sharing concerts, growing audiences and celebrating brass music across our communities. The contest stage shapes us — the other 360 days define us."
Alongside performance the events also aim to inspire the next generation of brass players.
Local audiences will be encouraged to discover the many benefits of playing a musical instrument offering an inclusive and supportive musical community to be part of.
