German euphonium star Daniel Hohm has told 4BR that he is looking forward to his first major workshop and concert performance in his home country.
Having graduated from the Royal Northern College of Music, the solo euphonium player at Hammonds Band he will be leading a free 'Euphonium Workshop' on both Saturday and Sunday 22nd & 23rd November with Musikverein Ostringen.
The Sunday will be rounded off with a free concert (5.00pm) with the band at the Hermann-Kimling-Halle in Östringen.
Incredibly special
Speaking to 4BR he said: "Returning home to perform and teach feels incredibly special. It's where everything began, and I hope to share what I've learned while sparking new enthusiasm for the euphonium."
On the concert programme will be Rolf Wilhelm's 'Concertino', one of the few major works for the instrument written by a German composer, as well as Johan de Meij's imposing 'UFO Concerto'.
Musical roots
Daniel added: "This is my first major engagement since completing my studies at the RNCM, after a year that included the RNCM Concerto Competition, Gold Medal Final, and the ITEC Euphonium Artist Final.
Although I'm still based in the UK, I'm now building regular projects back home, and this concert marks an exciting step in reconnecting with my musical roots.
The workshop aims to inspire the German euphonium scene as a whole, sharing a broad, international perspective on playing and teaching and players of all levels are warmly encouraged to sign up via my website."
