BrookWright Music: The First Nowell (Trad arr. Barrie Gott)

Be the first to get the Nowell message in your concert pads in time for Christmas.

First Nowell
The arrangement has been made by composer Barrie Gott

This charming setting by acclaimed composer and arranger Barrie Gott is for brass band, choir and piano, although it is cleverly orchestrated so that it will work for a brass band on its own.

Four verses

The arranger states: "I've always been fascinated with this wonderful carol. It was first written for choir and piano and then orchestrated for the Brisbane Lord Mayor's Carols with the Queensland Pops Orchestra and a further arrangement for brass band made.

The setting is for four verses (1,2,5 and 6) and tells the Gospel story in a nutshell. It starts very simply and builds to a spectacular climax."
