Grimethorpe set for Albert Hall hat-trick triumph

Grimethorpe Colliery Band is set to pack out the Royal Albert Hall next October with a special 30th anniversary live screening of their most famous alter ego National triumph.

Brassed Off
The band will return to the Albert Hall for a third sell out live performance

One band that has already secured its place at the Royal Albert Hall in October 2026 is Grimethorpe Colliery Band, after it was announced that the Yorkshire band is to return for a special 30th anniversary 'Brassed Off! Live' performance.

Albert Hall

It will be held on Friday 2nd October and will see the band joined by members of the Academy of St Martin in the Fields under the baton of Ben Palmer.

There will also be an exclusive Q&A session before the show with some cast members, film director Mark Herman and producer, Steve Abbott who are both Honorary Patrons of Grimethorpe Colliery Band.

The band was part of the first sold out 'live' show at the venue in 2017, one which marked the film's 21st anniversary, and returned in 2022.

Hat-trick

Without giving the plot away, they are now looking forward to making it a Grimley 'hat-trick' of 'National' victories, with Band Manager Andy Kennedy telling 4BR: "The 30th anniversary year of the film was always going to be an important one for everyone associated with the band.

Being in 'Brassed Off' was a hugely defining moment in our history and we will be delighted to perform this special show yet again at the Royal Albert Hall.

Worldwide appeal

He added: "To be invited to return to perform at what is expected to be another fully sold-out performance not only endorses the lasting appeal and relevance of the film, but also that of the worldwide popularity and respect Grimethorpe Colliery Band has as the leading brass band entertainers in the world.

We can't wait to perform there again — and to link up again with our friend and conductor for the show Ben Palmer, friends from the film and all the band's supporters."
