Report & Results: 2025 Elland Silver Slow Melody, Duet & Quartet

There was talented aged 7 to over 80 on show as the popular Elland event returns to the contesting calendar.

Elland Solo
The Elland event returned to teh contesting calendar this year.

The relaunch of the popular Elland Band contest proved to be an overwhelming success as over 60 performers aged 7 to 80 years enjoyed the supportive atmosphere of competitive action and the excellent facilities to be found at Southgate Methodist Church.

Judges

Chief amongst those enjoying the music were judges Glyn and Helen Williams, with the Adams artists treated to a feast of excellent performances across the nine sections throughout the day from brass and percussion players of all ability levels — beginners to veterans.

Especially encouraging was the number of young performers taking part, with stars of the future already taking their first steps with confidence in playing in front of two of the banding world's most celebrated performers.

Fantastic day

Band spokesperson, Samantha Harrison told 4BR: "It was a fantastic day of music making, and we send our grateful thanks to our sponsors John Packer Musical Instruments, Kirklees Music, Whites Butchers, Morrison's and Grandpa Thomas.

We also thank our fantastic team of volunteers across the Elland Band organisation for all the support with running the day and donations of baking and raffle prizes."
