Congratulations are sure to be sent from around the banding world to Isobel Daws after it was announced that she has just been appointed Principal Trombone with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra.
One of the most sought after young professional trombonists, she will make the move to her new role after completing her commitments to the Luxembourg Philharmonic Orchestra where she was appointed in 2023.
Alumni
The former BBC's Young Musician of the Year Brass Category finalist and winner of the BBC Young Brass Award, Isobel is alumni of both the National Children's and Youth Brass Bands of Great Britain, and The National Children's and Youth Orchestras of Great Britain.
The Getzen and Greg Black artists is a graduate of the Royal Academy of Music, and won a prestigious Karajan Academy position at the Berlin Philharmonic in January 2022.
She has since performed with many of the world's leading orchestras as well as with the Bone-fide and Septura ensembles. Her debut solo album was released in 2022.
Wonderful time
Speaking about her latest move she stated on her Facebook page: "I have had the most wonderful time in Luxembourg, and I will treasure all of the memories with my colleagues forever."
