Bathgate vision for Music Hub in heart of community

The Bathgate Band is leading an ambitious bid to create a home for the diverse tapestry of talent in its community.

The ambitious project will be at the heart of the community

The Bathgate Band is hoping to gain support for their vision to create a thriving 'Music Hub' in the heart of their West Lothian community.

Although very much at an early stage at present, their ambitious concept seeks to provide 'a future home for music organisations, bands, and local musicians' that reflects 'the diverse tapestry of talent' in the Bathgate community.

Music Hub

The 'Bathgate Music Hub' will be based at a former nursery building which was closed by the local council in 2025. It is a large building, rich in potential, but in need of redevelopment. Initial ideas could well see it provide at least two bespoke rehearsal spaces, tutor rooms and storage facilities, all with inclusive access.

As the proposal states: "Guided by the existing floor plan, we believe that only moderate internal modifications are required to adapt the building for multi-use purposes. With thoughtful reconfiguration, Bathgate West can once again become a place where people come to learn, create, and connect, this time through the transformative power of music."

Consultation process

At present a community consultation process is being undertaken that could well lead to a dedicated venue for groups that not only include the band, but also a Pipe Band, Concert Orchestra, and club activities.
