Northop Silver Band has confirmed the appointment of Ryan Richards as their new Musical Director.

The Rath trombone artist returns to the North Wales ensemble on a permanent basis after enjoying a successful appearance with them at the Grand Shield earlier this year.

New chapter

It also marks the start of a new musical chapter with the baton for the solo trombone of Welsh Champion Tredegar, after enjoying a three year tenure at Jackfield. During that time he led the Midland Area contender to third place at the 2024 First Section National Final.

Connection

A Northop Band band spokesperson told 4BR: "We're delighted to welcome Ryan to the role, and look forward to building on the great work he did with us on our Spring Festival appearance.

He has made a wonderful connection with the band with his vibrant, informed outlook which links to our own musical ethos."

I really enjoyed my time with them earlier this year and I'm looking forward to seeing where our partnership takes usRyan Richards

Thanks

In response Ryan told 4BR: "First of all my thanks go to everyone at Jackfield who have been so supportive and committed to me over the past three years. They have a very exciting future ahead of them.

Northop also offers a great opportunity with a band of proven top-level talent and ability. I really enjoyed my time with them earlier this year and I'm looking forward to seeing where our partnership takes us."
