The Royal Northern College of Music has announced that it is to support five ensembles in 2025 and 2026 through fresh initiatives designed to open musical opportunities for performance on a wider stage.

It will see the acclaimed Danish string ensemble NOVO Quartet become an Ensemble in Association in a year-long performance residency designed to support young international talent and provide inspirational experiences for current students.

The initiative will also see the Paddington Trio return to the RNCM for a third year as Junior Fellows in Chamber Music.

Investment

It is aimed to help create investment in the conservatoire's thriving community of chamber musicians.

Speaking about the new appointments and the value of chamber teaching, as spokesperson said: "Chamber Music is central to life at RNCM. Every student receives coaching from our dedicated and specialist chamber music staff, we provide enrichment sessions, masterclasses, and performance platforms."

Competitions

They added: "There are seven chamber competitions throughout the year at the RNCM, culminating in the Christopher Rowland Ensemble of the Year Prize."

Former winners of the prestigious award include the A4 Brass Quartet.
