Elland Silver to mark 175th anniversary

A new work by composer Nick Brocklehurst will help the Elland Silver Band mark its 175th anniversary.

There are sure to be plenty of players around the stands.

Elland Silver Band's 175th Anniversary Spectacular concert in Huddersfield Town Hall next month is set to not only feature all six musical elements of its organisations, but will also see them all get together for a massed band world premiere of 'Elland Overture', written for the occasion by composer by Nick Brocklehurst.

The music tells the story of the organisation through its formative years, reflecting on the elements of resilience, determination, community and talent that has propelled their success.

Former MDs

The occasion will also see former MDs David Essex, Morgan Griffiths and Daniel Brooks join the celebrations in taking the baton alongside newly appointed Musical Director, Dave McGlynn.

2025 marks the 30th anniversary of the setting up of their multiple award winning Youth Band as well as the 10th anniversary of their Community Band.
