The Wallace Collection will mark its forthcoming 40th anniversary with a triple recording release.
It sees the renowned ensemble demonstrating its ongoing commitment to break new ground — further underpinning an ethos that since 1986 has seen them work with many of the world's leading musicians and compositional talents.
Download and streaming
The new releases will be available in download and streaming versions only — embracing the new era of listener technology. Scores of the music will also be easy to access free of charge.
Through the ensemble's own recording arm it is also envisaged that much of the ensemble's 'back catalogue' will be made available in this way.

John Wallace Symphony
The 'John Wallace Symphony' album can date its genesis back to 1974.
The Symphony itself is for brass band, brass quintet, double-belled solo trumpet, live electronics, organ and six natural trumpets and is made up of a series of recordings of its four movements over an extended period of time (2016 to 2024) by the co-operation band, Whitburn Band and Kingdom Brass, all directed by Bede Williams.
The release also incudes the Martin Luther King-inspired 'Where do we go from here?' originally written for the Reserve Band of the National Youth Brass Band of Scotland, played by Kingdom Brass.

As Above, So Below
The second release, 'As Above, So Below' sprang from Sir James Macmillan's Cumnock Tryst, which commissioned the work for brass band and quintet from Jay Capperauld in 2017.
The Wallace Collection recorded it in Govan & Linthouse Parish Church in 2024, along with companion piece, 'Concerto for Brass Quintet and Brass Band' by Derek Bourgeois.

Centre of Things
The third release, 'The Centre of Things', is a song-cycle composed between 2015 and 2019. It was first performed by Jamie MacDougall, pianist Marianna Abrahamyan and Bede Williams on trumpet in 2024.
Paul Mealor's '5 Bagatelles' rounded off the programme that day and is again featured to provide a comprehensive resume of how The Wallace Collection continues to flourish in working with leading composers.
