4BR has been informed that the musical partnership between conductor Ben Coulson and Skelmersdale Band has come to an immediate end.

It follows the band being made aware of a serious legal matter on which there are current press and publication restrictions in place.

Statement:

In a statement the band said: "On Wednesday 21st May at 4pm, Skelmersdale Prize Band was made aware of a serious legal matter involving our former Musical Director. We are deeply shocked and saddened by this situation.

Resignation from the Musical Director had been accepted by the committee and band on 3rd May, prior to the band's knowledge of the incident in question. As a result of this new information, the individual is no longer associated with the band in any context.

Out of respect to anyone impacted by the case, for those involved, and reporting restrictions around the legal proceedings, we will be making no further comment at this time.

Our focus remains on supporting our band members and continuing the positive musical work we are proud to deliver within the community."
