Dave McGlynn has taken on the full time role.

Elland Silver Band has announced the appointment of Dave McGlynn as their new Musical Director.

4BR was told that having had the opportunity to work with Dave in rehearsals leading up to the Yorkshire Regional Championships and Senior Cup, the band was delighted when he accepted the offer to take the position.

Really impressed

Speaking about his new role, Dave said: "Having finished playing at Black Dyke, I've been something of a caretaker conductor for a number of bands across all sections, either filling in or helping them as they sought a new full-time conductor.

I didn't really have it in mind to take a band full time, but when I first came down to Elland I was really impressed with the set-up of the organisation. The work that goes on with the youngsters is amazing and the whole organisation seems incredibly well run."

He added: "The senior band are a lovely, settled ensemble and I'm honoured to follow in the footsteps of some of our movements most iconic figures here."
