Amid the celebrations from the players of winning bands from each section of all eight regional championship events this year, none can perhaps beat that of the Thompson family.

All victorious

They were able to celebrate Niall and Logan being part of the Black Dyke Band that won the Yorkshire Area title, followed by Pauline who was a member of the Ferryhill Band that took the Second Section North of England honours.

To top it all, Tony and Carl Thompson then completed the title victories as they were part of the NASUWT Riverside Band that won the Championship Section in Durham.

Champions

Reflecting on what is believed to be a unique achievement this year, Carl said: "All Thompson's who competed this year are champions — a clean sweep for the family!"
